Assignment 3 - Monumental Clock

Humans build monuments, to date events, to mark their times, to remember important people, to remind the next generation what great happenings takes place before their time and what great people existed before them.
Monuments age, to tell the people that time is passing, to tell the people that it is here before this moment, that it had withstood the time to tell its story to the current generation and will continue to do so until it falls.
Monuments age, to tell people that nothing is eternal, that everything has a start but also an end, that things that rise will eventually fall and that one day everything will return to its primitive form, returning to Gaia.
Monuments remind us, that we are small, that we are specks of dust compared to the earth, and nothing compared to the great cosmos.
But that is why humans are prone to greatness.
We can build monument that scrapes the sky, block the sun light and cast a shadow across the land and can even make a mark on earth big enough to be seen from the heavens.
Monuments teaches us, that there is no such thing as eternity as everything will come to an end sooner or later as we know it, but it also tells us that every end is only the beginning of a new start.

Assignment 3 narrative

Assignment 2 Video
Narrative:
I stand as witness, a witness of the falling of a giant.
I witnessed the superstructure that once stands tall above all, now a lying in a heap; and all the elements that enables it to tower above everything else returned to its original form.
Concrete that are so robust in its form can reach for the skies because it has steel as its bones.
Walls that are strong and thick were once brick and stones.
Glass that looks pure, transparent and Omni can shatter to a million pieces.
I held my hand up, all I can see now are tissue that forms my skin and muscles, the veins that carries by blood, the molecules that forms the DNA strands in the cells, and the atoms that can be split to even smaller parts.
These are “all” the” ones” that make me “one”
Then I realise, everything is made the same.
I am just “one” of the witness in the crowd; the crowd is just one of the groups of people that belonged to this city; the city is one of many in this country; the county sits on a piece continent formed by many nations; the land, the sea and the atmosphere formed our beloved planet earth which sits on the third place in terms of distance of the sun that give warmth to its planets………
We are merely numbers to the country; we are no more than dusts to the planet; we are near to nothing if the universe decides to look at us.
Time is our judge, in the end we will become “one”, with the world, and with the universe.

There are notes on each frame...............if u could read my hand writing that is........
It seems alot but that is because each frame only lasts about 2~6 seconds max (40 frames in total).

This is the opening for an anime called Gunslinger Girl II Teatrino, Song by KOKIA.
What i would like to take from this video are the way the picture slide shows fade in and out from the frames, and by syncing the progression of the relative images and texts to the beat and the song lyrics a dynamic video presentation can be made (of course).
another few video, which is a bit off topic which i like to show are also very good in this sense.
They show superb control over the images in relation to the music used

This sketch shows that a perfect sphere can also be partitioned into into something even smaller.
This sketch shows a variation in color size and shapes, but then they are all derived from the same basic shapes (even capsules are drawn first as a sphere then pushed)
When objects group together forming small little communities,becoming a "one" of its own.
A lot of "ones" combine to become a larger "one"
Sometimes similar communities appear and are often poses as a "symmetrical" counter part that is identical in nearly or every way like a mirror.
in the end all is "one" and "one" is all, all these communities might seems fragmented and varied, but they, no, everything is a par of a larger set that can bee seen as greater "one".

This is a video that i think could be interesting to look at in terms of cinematography.
This video is a pv made for a series of games called "Touhou" 東方 in kanji, featuring the characters in the games. The magnitude of the influence of this game on the Japanese is so huge that it virtually became a culture.
Although this is actuallly 2D but the way it is presented made it look like a 3D animation.

As said in the project brief, when the word "set" was mentioned, many imagery's, object related and non object related comes to mind. There are a lot of meanings that we can draw from the dictionaries.
"But today I shall focus on the set as an idea of a yield of articles that are grouped together to form a collection, or that these articles are part of a greater article that maybe combined to become one."
Examples of set in this notion can be a set of chess, a set of puzzle, a set of tools or a set of teeth. With each of these "whole" objects are actually made up of a collection of objects that are sometimes identical in someways with some variations, or objects that are entirely different but crucial to complete the "set".
In relation to architecture, notions that can be drawn upon can be "unity", "group", "symmetry"and "variation".
